Location

17km south-east of Brisbane CBD

Features

Acreage properties, close to Garden City Shopping Centre

Bordered by Chandler, Burbank, Mansfield and Rochedale, Mackenzie is approximately 17km from the Brisbane CBD and is characterised by its open spaces and acreage properties.

Development of the suburb started in the late 1990s and was completed in six stages. The predominant housing type is four-bedroom brick-and-tile homes and the area has been developed with mostly single-detached dwellings, accommodating families.

While Mackenzie has plenty of bushland reserves, any vacant land remaining has been zoned residential, eliminating any large commercial developments. Mackenzie's wide open spaces feature family friendly facilities such as picnic and barbecue spots, walk ways and bike paths. It is also close to Mt Petrie Primary School, Mansfield State High School and Griffith University.

Although Mackenzie has no train line, bus transport is available and residents have excellent access to the Gateway Motorway. Amenities such as shops and hospitals can be found approximately 10 minutes away at Wishart and Mt Gravatt. Garden City Shopping Centre also offers residents cinemas, restaurants and other forms of entertainment.
