Brisbane
10km east of Brisbane CBD.
Elevated positioning, close to Griffith University and Moreton Institute of TAFE.
As the name implies, Carina Heights is a more elevated suburb than its neighbour Carina. Approximately 10km east of the Brisbane CBD, Carina Heights is an older suburb of Brisbane that was settled in the 1940s and 1950s.
Surrounded by the neighbouring suburbs of Camp Hill, Carindale, Mount Gravatt East and Tingalpa, Carina and Carina Heights are thriving Brisbane suburbs that have seen good growth over the last five years.
The housing styles in this suburb are a mixture of mainly post-war weatherboard and older Queenslander homes with sweeping verandas. There are more brick-and-tile homes in the area than in Carina. Many of the suburb's older-style housing commission homes were sold to mostly young first homebuyers who proceeded to renovate. This has increased the price of these types of houses in the area.
Community infrastructure in the area is more than adequate with a major hospital only 10 minutes away and a number of doctors. There are primary schools located in the area including St Martins Catholic Primary, Carina, Belmont and Camp Hill. High schools include the Camp Hill, Cavendish Road, and San Sisto high schools. Griffith University is nearby as is the Mt Gravatt TAFE (Moreton Institute of TAFE).
Shopping facilities include close access to Westfield Carindale and smaller shopping centres in Carina, Belmont and Mt Gravatt East.
The suburb has many walk and bike ways, parks, waterways, and has easy access to the Clem Jones Sports Complex. The suburb has access to very good bus transport via the Carindale Busway.
As the suburb has been established for some time, there is little vacant land left for either residential or commercial / retail development.
